Our Story
Holistic K9 was born in Perth Western Australia from the idea to find a healthy, air-dried
diet that would keep our Miniature Schnauzers’ beards clean and our show dogs
in tip top condition. From that first idea, it has evolved into a line of
products that help pet owners to feed a healthy, balanced diet to their dogs, with
different options to provide variety, not only with meat protein choices but with
the different ways our food can be fed.
Our air-dried range is great for holidays (or show days!),
easy to store, quick to feed and dogs love it. It is super concentrated and
highly nutritious. We often use our air-dried range to treat our dogs when
training and top their raw meals with some air dried food for extra
nourishment. Of course it can also be fed as a meal by itself.
We also hand make the same wholesome, nutritious diet in a
raw product, snap frozen and flat packed for easy storage and defrosting. The
raw product can be served raw, or alternatively it can be slow cooked on low,
maintaining nutritional value.
Our diet is rustic – plain, simple ingredients, hand made
with care. Our additives are selected to promote good health and physical well
being.
Our food is suitable for any breed from puppies to the
elderly, dogs that need a low fat diet, dogs with skin and digestive
sensitivities, dogs that require a single protein diet, and to tempt fussy
eaters.
Our food is a wholesome diet for your dog. We
source our high quality produce from Australia with as much as possible from
local farmers in WA, from our home grown organic vegetables to our wild caught
kangaroo, goat and sardines, and human grade salmon and chicken. Our
ingredients are fresh and our products are hand made in small batches so that
quality and nutrition is maintained.
The Founders
We (Deb Targett and Pam Cook) are passionate about what we feed our dogs. We both show our Miniature Schnauzers and are breeders, therefore a wholesome, nutritious diet is required to keep the dogs in the best condition
including healthy skin and glowing coats, and to support puppy growth and development.
As well as being a breeder of Miniature Schnauzers, Pam’s
success in the show ring with her dogs is evident. She has bred several Australian Champions with more up and coming beauties in training. Pam lives in
the country and previously had a successful certified organic market garden.
Pam now grows bio dynamic vegetables for exclusive use in our products.
Deb currently works full time in Local Government. Her interest in showing dogs commenced decades ago with another breed, but more recently she has shown her male Miniature Schnauzer to his Champion title and now helps Pam and other enthusiasts show their dogs. Primarily her dogs are
pets who live harmoniously in the household. Deb enjoys the outdoors, taking the dogs for long walks in the hills and including them in everyday activities whenever she can.
In her spare time Deb is invested in researching the best produce and hand making Holistic K9 food and other items.
